It all started whith Jul and Sverre Møller inviting family and friends to the "Day of our Home" each November 11th. This was the date they moved in at their new home in the hills in Oslo in 1924. They called the house "Kleiva", a Norwegian word indicating a hillside. This became a strong yearly tradition gathering their five children and their growing families as well. We allways song the "Kleiva-song" where verses were added when the family increased.
When Jul and Sverre both died in 1985 the house "Kleiva" was sold out of the family. We all valued the tradition of meeting on November 11th and we wanted children and grandchildren to experience the value of belonging to a greater family. So Liv and Jan-Fredrik with their children Marianne and Jan-Christian invited us to a "Møller Treff" (treff=gathering) in their home at Nordberg in Oslo in 1986.
The next to invite was Mette and Helge in 1988 and from there on there has been many gatherings. The event is now arranged every second year and it is moved to summertime. All descendants of Kristine and Nils Ingemann Møller, the parents of Sverre, Alf, George and Nils, are invited. The arrangement committees are either from one of the family branches or members living in the same geographical area.
Here is an overview of the Møller gatherings from 1986 until now (2015):
|1986||Nordberg in Oslo||Liv /Jan-Fredrik|
|1992||Hemsedal (Lykkja mountain lodge)||Marianne/Liv/Jan-Fredrik|
In addition to the names om the list the next generation kids have often been engaged in the arrangements as well.
